Broken Pencil Presents: Queer Graphica Collection Launch at Pride Library

The Pride Library is pleased to announce the launch of its latest special collection: Queer Graphica. Comprised of comics, zines, and graphic novels, this collection not only tells the story of the changing role of queer folk through history, but in many cases, provides an alternative narrative from that of official histories resulting in a collection as diverse as the queer umbrella itself.
Beginning with a generous contribution from local donors Mike Niederman and Joan Brennan the collection has since grown to encompass a wide diversity of perspectives, histories, and identities. It includes everything from the most innocent coming-of queer age narratives, to works on the semiotics of leather culture; from the daring fringes of kink to the most erudite takes on gender politics.
Titles carried include: Curbside, Kake, Dyke to Watch Out For, Straight to Hell, J.D.s, Queer Enough, Hothead Paisan, Hoax, Liliane, Curbside, Invincible Summer, The Life and Times of Butch Dykes, He, Her, Him: Free, Fer, Frim, Gay Comix, Naked Justice, Naughty Bits, Desert Peach, Spit and Passion, and Keven Keller.
Artists represented in the collection include: Tom of Finland, P. Craig Russel, Eloisa Aquino, Bruce LaBruce & GB Jones, Caroline Paquita, Nicole J. Georges, Howard Cruse, Diane DiMassa, Mary Wings, Cristy C. Road, Robnoxious, Alison Bechdel, Carrie McNinch, Robert Kirby, and Ellen Forney.
The Pride Library is an official research site at Western University, but operates administratively independent of the Western system. The Mandate of the Pride Library is to acquire, preserve, organize, and give public access to information and materials by and about lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer communities (LGBTQ).
